Since graduating as a Journalism student at John Moores in 2008, Robin Goodwin, 23, has been freelancing for a number of websites, and has had articles published in motorsports magazines.
Motorsport drives his ambition, and this is the field where he hopes to work full-time, but for now he is about to go to London to get some work experience in the hope of eventually securing his dream job.
Robin has fond memories of his time at John Moores: “I’ve moved back home to Warrington now, but I miss Liverpool a lot, I would love to move back to work, if I got the chance.
“The tutors were so helpful, especially Richard Rudin, who used to make his lectures so much fun and Chris Frost helped me tons on my dissertation.
“I always found that they promoted independence, they helped me to communicate, it improved my writing skills, and also the way I convey myself.”
Robin always has great memories of what he calls his second home.
“In my final semester I more or less moved into the library, I was spending so much time there. It’s a great place though with everything I ever needed.
“But most of all, my favourite thing about coming to Liverpool has got to be without a shadow of a doubt, all the friends I made. I still even now, when I hear people say they are thinking about going to university in Liverpool, I tell them that it is one of the best things I ever did.
“My passion is in motor sports and that’s where I hope to end up, but it hasn’t been easy since leaving. At first I was reluctant to move to far away from home, but now I’d take a job just about anywhere, so we'll have to see where life takes me.”
