Ruby Wax was in Liverpool on Saturday to host local magazine Lifestyle Monthly's annual awards. Those in attendance wore their fanciest dresses and donned their best suits as the red carpet was rolled out. Ruby Wax was on top comic form during the evening as she presented a selection of local businesses, attractions and individuals with their Awards. The event was attended by some top celebrities including John Barnes and Dean Sullivan of Brookside fame.
Ruby Wax took to the stage wearing red, complaining jokingly that the stage was orange and therefore not matching her outfit. When asked how she thought the awards went she said: “I thought I was excellent.”
The awards were voted for by the readers of the magazine. Amanda Moss, editor of Lifestyle Monthly, stressed the importance of these awards when she said: “It's essential, especially as the economy has been so hard on everyone. Businesses need to market themselves even more in a recession to make sure their brand remains in the public eye.”
Marina Dalglish received the Contribution to the
Community Award for her work with the Marina Dalglish
Appeal. She couldn’t attend the event but afterwards she
said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award
on behalf of everyone that is involved with The Marina
Dalglish Appeal. I would like to say thank you to everyone
who has supported us and hopefully together we can help
ease the way for sufferers and their families on their
cancer journey.”
ACC Liverpool was awarded the Green Contribution to the
City Award. Bob Prattey, Chief Executive of ACC Liverpool,
said: “This award is testament to the hard work and
dedication of the whole team at ACC Liverpool. Since we
first opened our doors we have remained committed to
being as green as we possibly can and reducing our carbon footprint.”
Rick Vaughn from Radio City awarded Southport Pleasureland the Best Family Day out Award ahead of Liverpool One. Norman Wallis from Southport Pleasureland said: “It feels absolutely fabulous when considering that three years ago Southport Pleasureland had finished and had been closed down. Now it has been nominated for the award and then to win it is absolutely fabulous. I’d like to thank everybody for voting for us and doing this for us.”
Amongst the other awards on the night was Next as Best Fashion Retailer, Lip Doctor as Best Beauty Clinic, Il Forno as Best Restaurant, Thornton Hall as Best Spa, Toni & Guy won Best Salon and Taskers got the Best Home Improvement Company Award.
Amanda Moss said: “The awards were rewarding those businesses who had supported the magazine and I wanted a platform to say thank you and at the same time raise the profile of the magazine within the region.”
