Autumn and Winter collections are always a sparkly affair in preparation for Christmas, and this year is no different.
This season, the party season, sequins are dazzling the high street and the catwalk, with jackets, waistcoats, leggings, tops and just about anything else you can think of being decorated with glitz.
Sequins are a classy and feminine look with a touch of playfulness and as well as that, they are really easy to get right.
Balmain, Gucci, Christopher Kane and Diane Von Furstenberg have all jumped on the sequined band-wagon, creating stunning dresses, perfect for the party seasons of the rich and famous.
Even the traditional LBD is being given a glittery twist. Topshop, Primark, New Look and Warehouse are just a few of the High Street brands combining the sophisticated LBD with the glamour of the sequin.
Vogue is loves sequins, saying: “All the cool girls are wearing twinkling sequins for day and night,” and the fashion bible is not wrong.
Sequins work either way. A twinkling silver blazer dressed down with a pair of skinny jeans and basic pumps, creates a stylish day-time outfit. The same blazer is easily dressed up with a basic black vest, tights and a pair of killer stilettos. Simple, but effective.
For best results, mix textures; combine with jeans, jersey, leather, and cotton.
Remember though, less is more, too many sequins will not only dazzle those around you but will also make you look vaguely like the glitter ball hanging from the ceiling of Flares, and that is not a good look.
