Get the inside scoop on the trends making their way into your wardrobe, with tips from the Topshop style Advisors here in Liverpool on what’s hot and what’s not this season.
The fashion forecast is predicting these key trends this coming winter:
Underwear as outerwear
These sparkly little numbers are fast becoming the high streets favourite must have. Go for a LBP (Little Black Pair) in sparkly sequins or choose to be wild in leopard print like Pixie Lott. Either way these big pants will cause a storm on the style front.
Super thigh-high boots
Julia Roberts made these bad booties famous in Pretty Woman, and now they have been brought back to life on the catwalk. They can be almost practical with jeans and leggings for a casual lunch date or glammed up at night with a mini dress and blazer.
Dynasty comeback
These super power-padded shoulders have been heating up our autumn. Beyonce, Rihanna and Alexandra Burke have all been sporting the Dynasty look. Without going Diva, we too can look like we have stepped off the catwalk with Topshop’s range of Dynasty inspired pieces.
Velvet Delight
Forget feeling like your nan in lace and pearls. This winter is all about looking lady-like. From crown jewel inspired necklaces to royal blue tones in velvet, every girl can feel like a princess.

Topshop have four new trends for this autumn/winter; from 80s diva to country rose, queen bee and rock chic. Here's some top handy tips on how to get creative with your look:
Jubilee
Regal fabrics come out to play this season; lush velvets, royal rosettes and crown jewel prints will have you feeling like a lady of the manor.
Style Advisor’s tip: Keep it playful, with cheeky cameo-prints on tulip skirts.
Highland fling
Get traditional with plaids, tartan, denim, and faded floral. Topshop’s fall 2009 “Highland Fling” is all about quality, style and class.
The collection includes dresses in antique florals, quilted jackets, hand-crafted knits, maxi trenches double breasted check coats, shirts, leather ankle boots with red laces and soft suede calf-high boots with leather wrap strapping, scarves, bobble hats, and sturdy lace-ups.
Style Advisor’s tip: There are no rules when it comes to tartan but best to vamp it up. Mix with black leather dresses or team with platform patent hiking boots.
Manhattan
Manhattan Cocktail is all about exaggerated silhouettes, inspired by the 80’s, in bright interesting and bold colours and a glamorous cut. Add to this some animal prints and gold accessories and you’ll be the star of Manhattan!
Style Advisors tip: 80s is all about power shoulders and statement dressing but it’s important to mix in sportswear element for a contemporary twist. Think slouchy white tee with sequin harlem pants.
Marianne, Luxe groupie
Suede scarves, embellished headbands and platform thigh boots finish of this glamourous grunge look. Add a spot of fake fur for a rockstar effect!
Style Advisors tip: Layering is good. More is more. Make it look like it is effortless and you will achieve chic.
