With the Grand National now just weeks away, Project Catwalk stylist Nick Ede and Karen Millen began the Liverpool fashion-takeover in preparation for Ladies Day 2010 this week.
The Liverpool One branch of Karen Millen hosted the, 'Get dressed for the races,' event which saw many Liverpool clients expertly styled in anticipation for the much celebrated day out.
'Peaches & Cream' make- up experts and 'Herbert of Liverpool' hair salon worked hard at the event to create the desired look for individual clients. Meanwhile, it was the job of stylist to the stars Nick Ede, to ensure that the women of Liverpool felt glamorous and chic in the most flattering of Karen Millen garments for the 2010 races.
Nick Ede has previously styled Blue Peter’s Konnie Huq for the National Television Awards in a distinctive Karen Millen piece and has also dressed former Atomic Kitten star and Liverpudlian Liz McClarnon, when she began presenting BBC 3’s ‘Hotter than my daughter’.
He said: “I like Karen Millen as a brand, due to the fact that it
seems to have a core client base and is extremely forward
thinking. It’s also very accessible to all women. I love the new
range of beautiful hand-stitched colours and fabrics and the
garments which have the graphic print designs.”
The London-based stylist also applauded the well-dressed
women of Liverpool and the redeveloped city centre.
He said: “Liverpool One is absolutely fantastic and has been
very well set out. I definitely plan to visit Liverpool more often,
the people are so friendly and there is a real community feel
to it here.”
Rachel Marshall, regional manager for Karen Millen,
said: “We planned this event about a month ago. We thought
it would be a great way to keep in touch with and show how
much we value our clients. I think what Liverpool women
have identified about Karen Millen, is that our dresses
have an almost couture detailing.
“Each individual piece is able to stand-out and all-importantly, won’t date. They’re something which you would always be proud to bring out for other occasions and not just the one that you bought it for originally.”
One such Karen Millen client, Carla Hughes, 29, a teacher from Liverpool attended the event in the hope of finding that perfect dress for the races next month.
She said: “I come to Karen Millen when I wish to buy a dress for a special occasion. I know I can rely on the fact that they’re good quality fabrics and are always a great fit.”
