Liverpool One was brought to a virtual standstill on Friday night when style and fashion guru Gok Wan brought his Fashion Fix roadshow to the city.
Hundreds of fans braved the frosty and foggy conditions to watch the new television series being filmed for Channel 4, where Gok’s high street outfits went head to head against Brix Smith’s designer gear on the catwalk.
Gok really got the crowds going before the show kicked off, saying: “A little birdie told me you Scousers like fashion? Another little birdie tells me that maybe you are one of the best dressed cities in the world?”
The first part of the fashion show featured four of Liverpool’s very own social workers. Gok explained to the audience that he had received a call from the four Liverpool ladies asking for some fashion help from their ‘Auntie Gok’, which he was only too happy to oblige.
Gok arrived in Liverpool five days before the show on Friday and took the four Scouse social workers on a major shopping spree in their home town.
The crowd’s reaction seemed to suggest that Gok had done them proud as the ladies wowed their home crowd by parading down the catwalk in some stunning and eye-catching outfits.
The second part of the show was the chance for Brix and Gok to go up against one another with 'High Street' taking on 'Designer', which the audience had to vote for using pink and black paddles, although the crowd were not told which one was which, and simply voted for the collection they preferred.
The new series of Gok’s Fashion Fix roadshow will air on Channel 4 in January 2011 with the Liverpool show first on the bill.
