The most important and anticipated day in any self-proclaimed stylish lady’s calendar arrived on Friday with the holding of Ladies’ Day at the famous Aintree racecourse.
Every year women descend on Aintree to bring some colour to the proceedings and this year, the 164th John Smith’s Grand National, was no exception.
The annual event attracted women who were dressed to impress but only one trendy lady could take away the Matalan style award.
There were some striking outfits, fascinators and hats on the day but the fashionable lady who took the prize was Lystra Adams. The lucky winner styled herself to victory to win the Best Dressed award. The luxury prizes that 33-year-old Ms Adams won included a ten-day holiday to Saint Lucia and £5,000.
Adams, who is a professional Naomi Campbell
look-a-like, is a racehorse owner and has won best
dressed awards in the past.
She showed fashion wannabes how it is done, wearing
a striking black-and-red flowered hat and Vivienne
Westwood outfit covered in pink confetti.
The sun was shining for the famous fashion event, which
attracted more than 50,000 people and was the second
day of the Grand National meeting.
The styles on display were just as hot as the weather.
Coleen Rooney, a WAG known for her attention-grabbing
fashion sense and marriage to footballer Wayne Rooney,
was there on the day looking pretty in pink with her mother Collette.
Other celebrities in attendance included footballer Joe Cole and his wife Carly, as well as Liverpool team-mates Raul Meireles and Glen Johnson.
Among the eye-catching and outlandish garments worn on the day which got people talking was a hat which resembled a tasty plate of doughnuts. The fun hat, worn by Sonia Razzaque, was a tribute to doughnut makers Krispy Kreme. Although the strange hat did not grab the title, it certainly grabbed attention.
