• Wrap up warm and watch a classic movie at St Luke's church, more commonly known as "the bombed-out church" on the corner of Leece and Berry Street. Check the railings outside the church for listings
• Go to Doctor Duncan's beside St George's Hall to sample some of the excellent lagers and ales from the local Cain's brewery. In the summer, weather permitting, you can sit outside and enjoy the sunshine and fantastic local ale. It's bliss.
• Buy the Daily Post or Echo. They're both a vital source of local information and finding out what’s going on in the city. If you get the Echo off the street vendors chuck them a few pennies more for their trouble. Can't be easy standing in all sorts of weather letting rip with "EEEEEEEEEEEEE-CH-OOOOOOOO!!" every two minutes!
• Go to Kimos on Mount Pleasant or the smaller one on Myrtle Street. Is it a cafe or is it a restaurant? It doesn't seem so sure itself but it’s excellent for quick and easy middle-eastern and Mediterranean cuisine at a fair price. The atmosphere is always very chilled you can never go wrong the mixed kebab....
DON'T':
• Mind the scallies dressed in all black sporting the latest North Face gear that roam around the city. They may bother you, asking for a bit of biff (cigarettes) or similar, but just don't show any interest in them and walk on. They may look intimidating but in reality they're anything but.
• Ask what Hillsborough was or why you shouldn’t buy The Sun newspaper... educate yourself and then educate others....
• Ever admit to being a Man United fan in the presence of a Liverpool supporter. Better yet… don’t ever admit to being a Man United fan. End of.
• Hate fake tan. Liverpool is the number one in the ‘Top five fake-tan town in the UK’’ – followed only by Newcastle, Edinburgh, Manchester and Leeds. Stop hating it and embrace your potential inner tan-tastic self!
