LSS WoW Factor Projects: World of Work experience

JMU Journalism website launch 2009

Students from all three levels of Liverpool Screen School joined forces to produce the JMU Journalism: Liverpool Life website in a groundbreaking WoW Factor project. Convergence took on a whole new meaning for the students as they learned invaluable world of work skills by delivering an all-platforms news website in video, audio and text.

Hillsborough Memorial Service coverage

The 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster brought national news crews and JMU Journalism to Anfield to cover the emotional memorial service for the 96 Liverpool fans who died. Our multimedia team joined 28,000 supporters at Anfield to deliver special coverage of the service in video, audio and text reports, with additional TV reporting from Hillsborough in Sheffield.

World Firefighters Games Liverpool 08

JMU Journalism & MPS Liverpool Screen School students were the proud host broadcasters of the World Firefighters Games Liverpool 08. A DVD, which showcases the best of the action they filmed during the Olympics-style event, was sold to 32 countries. JMU's official daily TV bulletins of the games were shown on giant screens at the event headquarters, the Liverpool Echo Arena.

Website Editor Dan Burke was given a one-off dream opportunity to help cover Liverpool v Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League for uefa.com. Manchester City fan Dan was sceptical about the 'myth' of magical European nights at Anfield, but now he says: "I'm a Believer".
