Chris has been a newspaper journalist, editor and journalism educator for more than 30 years. He is chair of the NUJ’s Ethics Council a member of the NUJ’s National Executive Council and sits on the NUJ’s Professional Training Committee. He is a former President of the National Union of Journalists, a former member of the Press Council and a former National Chair of the Association of Journalism Educators. He has written four books on Journalism and a number of book chapters and academic papers >>

Hazel is a professional broadcaster with more than 25 years experience as a journalist in national and regional television, radio and newspapers. Employers include ITV Granada, BBC Radio London, Independent Radio News, and the Dutch World Radio Service, Evening Standard, Sunday Mirror and Sunday People >>

Sue has taught shorthand on a range of secretarial courses, delivered full-time and part-time, both in the public and private sector. More recently, she delivered the undergarduate shorthand module degree at JMU and also on private fast-track specifically designed for NCTJ exams >>

After graduating from Oxford, Steve began his career at the Winsford Guardian before moving to the Liverpool Post and Echo in 1986. His last role there was as Assistant Editor (Digital), responsible for running the papers’ websites. He joined the JMU Journalism staff in 2008 >>

Kate's background is newspapers and magazines. She lectures on practical modules and is part of the Journalism department's enterprise team which provides media training and summer schools and liaises with external clients requiring consultancy services >>

Rex leads the BA/MA International Relations/International Journalism courses. He received his PhD from the University of Sheffield and worked as an international journalist before joining the academic community. He has also published three books and a range of other publications >>

Pryce started his career in the furniture industry, but retrained in computers and audio-visual equipment before joining LJMU in 1994. He has worked in different departments down the years, and is now Senior Technician at LSS. He is also the Technology columnist for this website >>
