JMU is offering £10,000 in cash prizes to university students who take time to complete the survey
JMU students have been encouraged to take part in a national survey on universities, with cash prizes on offer for those who take part.
The National Student Survey 2010, launched this month, gathers the opinions of students regarding their time at university. Final year students throughout the UK are encouraged to fill out the 22-question survey, which affects their university’s league position in national 'leaue tables'.
Paula Baines, Student Development Co-ordinator at Liverpool Screen School, said: “The more students take part, the better we will know how to spend our money at JMU.
“Nationally, every university has to take part. The survey rates the satisfaction levels of students on teaching, assessment, management structure, learning resources, and student personal development."
A new incentive of cash prizes for participants has been put in place by JMU in an attempt to boost response rates.
All students who fill out the survey will be placed into a draw and first prize will be awarded £4,000, with six runners up receiving £1,000 each. All students who take part will also receive £3 in university printing credits for their time.
The survey can be completed online at www.thestudentsurvey.com. Those who neither participate, nor opt out of the survey, will be contacted via postal questionnaire as an alternative method of taking part.
