An internationally renowned artist displayed his latest work on the Metropolitan Cathedral over the weekend as part of the AND Festival.
Krzystof Wodiczko used a camera mounted on a former military vehicle to display transripts of interviews with former soldiers on the front of the cathedral.
The Polish artist worked with ex soldiers from Liverpool who were suffering with everyday life after serving in multiple conflicts.
The project was designed to allow soldiers to express themselves after many had said they had difficulties talking about what they had been through.
Wodiczko, who is head of visual art at Michigan Institute of Technology (MIT) and winner of the Hiroshima Art Prize said: “The project is trying to break the silence and change the lack of understanding. I gave them the chance to do something, its all them. Hopefully less people in the future will go through the same thing.”
The Veteran War Vehicle ran from Wednesday 23 to Sunday 27 and was also shown on Ropewalks Square, George's Dock building and Liverpool War Museum.
