The undead have a magical ability to make our skin crawl and our pulse race. Maybe it’s the fact that vampires only come out at night, or that they get to victims by seducing them first, or maybe it’s that they drink blood and sleep in coffins - who can really say. 1. Underworld – the trilogy staring sexy star Kate Beckinsale as Selene is not for the light-hearted. A true thriller.

2. Queen of the Damned – based on the novel by Anne Rice, this is the story of vampire Lestat (Stuard Townsend) who turns into a rock star and wakes up the queen of all vampires.

3. Twilight – more and more popular. Based on the best-selling novels by Stephenie Meyer. Staring Robert Pattison and Kirsten Stewart. A love story where Bella (Stewart) risks everything for her vampire lover Edward.

4. Interview with a Vampire – again based on an Anne Rice novel, this film starts Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas and a young Kirsten Dunst. Good insight into what it would be like to be an immortal being, if ever there was one.

5. 30 Days of Night – in a small town in Alaska darkness takes over the town and a gang of bloodthirsty vampires take over. Josh Hartnett battles to save the town.

6. Bram Stoker’s Dracula – this Francis Ford Coppola film is terrifying. Watch Gary Oldman as Dracula and Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins and Keanu Reeves as well.

7. Nosferatu the vampire – this oldie but goodie is a black-and-white silent film, but yet it manages to still be as scary as any other. For the vintage lovers; it was made in 1922.

8. The Lost Boys – starring Kiefer Sutherdland, the tagline says it all: “Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire."

9. From Dusk Till Dawn – Quentin Tarantino and George Clooney play two criminals, they’ve taken hostages and unknowingly taken up refuge in an establishment populated by vampires. Will they survive?

10. Jennifer's Body – more for the Megan Fox fans, but still a thriller. This scary film is about a vampire teenage cheerleader who kills off her male classmates. Her best friend wants to stop her, but can she?
